My Story

I first began my journey into gentle touch bodywork for horses and their well-being in Spring of 2020, when my late Morgan gelding, Matrix, who had just turned 22, was experiencing some back and SI pain. We began with chiropractic work, which Matrix quickly showed he did not enjoy! In fact, after having his poll worked on, I couldn't reach toward that area for months without him flinching away. I tried massage next, and his response was good, though it was still obvious he wasn't a huge fan throughout the session. A friend recommended a new bodyworker in town, who did craniosacral work on horses, and though I had never heard of it, I decided to give it a try. What a difference! Matrix responded immediately throughout the session, and was playing like a colt in the paddock in the weeks following.

The positive response from Matrix to this "gentle-touch" therapy led me to getting certified in the modality, as well as several others. I quickly discovered that the bodywork seemed to benefit us both. Not only did I find myself learning how to keep myself in the moment for longer periods of time, but I found myself enjoying the work overall,

I had hoped to continue to help Matrix feel his best on a weekly basis, but unfortunately, in May 2022, I lost my sweet boy to a complication after strangulation colic surgery. It took several months for me to find the desire to be around horses again, but once I did, I realized that Matrix would want me to continue the work to help other horses feel their best. Hence, the name Heart Horse Healing, in honor of my sweet Matrix, and the healing I know he would want for me to continue.
